According to the manufacturer, the tensioning strap is mandatory to ensure stability. However, we use it without the tensioning strap and it holds without any problems. As long as the vibrations of the washer/dryer are within limits (should be the case with newer appliances), it should not be a problem.
According to Hama it's universal for Machines with a surface area from 60x60 cm. There are now more pictures of samples on the shop maybe they will help you to decide if it could work. Note that you have use a webbing load restraint assembly (its included) for safety using.
