In principle, the SIM card can be changed. But it already has one inside. You can activate it cheaply and use it worldwide (incl. 10 minutes of calls per month).
Not any more. According to the following page from the manufacturer, the tracker only uses the 2G network. This is or will be switched off in Switzerland.

from 50m to 2km radius from the desired zones such as home or school....
As soon as the child leaves/arrives the radius, a notification is sent. A very effective result.
