Questions about WD Red Pro

Why the warranty from Digitec is for HD WD 4TB only 2 years and for 8TB and 10TB lasts 5 years? (WD International is always 5 years)

I ordered this 20 TB HDD but received an 8 TB HDD. Galaxus has been investigating the wrong delivery for 9 days - very annoying and unprofessional. Has anyone else received an 8 TB instead of the 20 TB? It seems that the wrong product was placed in the shockproof cardboard packaging ...

I have a Synology DS416Play+ with 4 6TB WD Red drives. According to my research, they are CMR discs. Is this hard drive compatible with this NAS? According to the compatibility page, the first part of the model number matches. The second is missing here at Digitec. Hello. I'm a bit lost. My HD (10 TB, WD100EFAX-68LHPN0, S/N 7JJR5SGC, bought 2018 at Galaxus) from the WDEx2Ultra (2x10TB, Raid) hung up the day before yesterday. Message 1: Disk 2 faulty, error code 208 / Message 2: Drive in bay 2 failed, error code 201. Since then, strangely, I can't access any jpg, mp3, mp4, mov, etc. -files any more. I am now trying to buy a replacement HD and hope to fix the problem with the replacement. Now there are two products with 10TB: "WD Red Plus" and "WD Red Pro". Do I have to pay attention to anything? Are both compatible? The differences are in direct comparison (what I can see at least) only in the transfer rate, weight and standby power consumption. I would be grateful for any expert advice! :-) Thanks in advance! Martin

I have a Synology 1517+ NAS equipped with 5 x 3Tb-WD Red (Raid 6). Two of my hard drive are dead. I would like to replace these two 3Tb-WD Red by two 6Tb-WD Red PRO. Will this configuration work knowing that there is a mix of WD Red and Red PRO with a mix of 3Tb and 6Tb capacity (I am fully aware about the fact that ony 3Tb of the two 6Tb-WD Red PRO will be considered by the NAS). I would also have 2 new 6Tb-WD Red PRO that work at 7200 rpm (with 256 Mb RAM) while the 3 remaining 3Tb-WD Red are working at 5400 rpm (with lower memory 128 Mb RAM).

I have 2 6TB in my Synology DS220+. I hear an HDD access every 2 seconds. I have also turned off everything on the NAS that can be turned off, and although there is no activity on the NAS, the 2 sec HDD access is always there. I now believe it is the HDD and not the Synology. Has anyone else had the same experience?

Warranty period only 2 years? Shouldn't the warranty period match that of the manufacturer? According to WD's product information, the manufacturer grants a warranty of 5 years on all "WD Red Pro"! (3 years for "WD Red" and "WD Red Plus").

What is the difference between this product and the WD Red Pro 10TB? Article number 6328286 // It says 256 MB cache on this product but it says the same thing on the other one. If they are the same, why the price difference?

Which HDD would you recommend for a Synology NAS WD Red Pro or WD Gold. I have the feeling that the WD Red Pro has a longer lifespan, but the WD Gold is filled with helium and is cheaper, is this true?

The picture is different for the 12Tb WD Red Pro variant than for the other sizes, and also does not correspond to the current picture on the WD website. Is this still an older model variant? What is different about the current one?

Hello Digitec - Has the HDD already been written with data? 12 months warranty at Digitec and how much longer at the manufacturer?

Week after week, the number of bad sectors increases. I now have more than 4000 bad sectors on a 6 TB hard drive, less than 3 months old. Is a replacement covered by the warranty?

What is included in the scope of delivery? Are screws and a SATA cable included? Possibly vibration-damped / rubberised screws?

What is the difference to the WD Red Pro which is offered with 12 TB at CHF 277?

In the specifications of the hard disk it says: "Transfer rate 750 MB/s". However, the following NAS (https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/synology-ds920-0tb-netzwerkspeicher-13405988) states: "Max. Data throughput read & write at 225 MB/s. Is there any point at all in installing this hard drive or would the cheaper version with 175 MB/s also do the job? Main question: Are the 750 MB/s slowed down by the max. 225 MB/s of the NAS, i.e. can the full 750 MB/s be used at all?

I was wondering why I could read so many opposing opinions about the volume of the same WD Red (Plus) hard drives. At first I thought it was probably because of how different our perceptions are. But after these scary articles and especially the official statement from WD "For select products, Western Digital has published RPM speed within a "class" or "performance class" for numerous years rather than publishing specific spindle speeds. We also fine-tune select hard drive platforms and the related HDD characteristics to create several different variations of such platforms to meet different market or application needs" makes a lot of things clear to me and although I was planning to order my NAS HDDs today under the digitec WD promotion, I am now finally refraining from doing so. At least with Iron Wolf I know that they are noisy 7200 rpm drives.
