Blueetooth is basically backwards compatible, so it should work (headset 2.1 - dongle 4.0). https://superuser.com/questions/588186/is-bluetooth-4-0-backwards-compatible-with-bluetooth-2-0edr Bluetooth is deactivated in the BIOS, but a BT dongle is ok? --> If Bluetooth is not deactivated in the BIOS but in the operating system, a dongle will not work either. To the upper part of the question, a rudimentary explanation: In Windows10, Bluetooth is already integrated in the operating system, so the operating system can establish a connection to a headset/headphones, in older Windows versions a separate software was necessary for this, e.g. "Logitech Headset Pairing Utility". I also have a dongle on my computer, as there is no BT on the mainboard. However, I can switch this on or off through Windows10 as needed, without additional software. Hope this answers the question
