Yes, this drive can read 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray discs. It is specifically designed for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray playback, supporting 4K UHD Blu-ray discs with USB 3.2 Gen 1 connectivity and a slim, portable design. However, playback software is not included and must be purchased or downloaded separately.
Yes, the Verbatim External Slimline Blu-ray Writer (model number 43890, but similar to the model you are looking for) is compatible with Windows 11. It supports Windows 8, 10 and 11, as well as Mac OS X 10.6 or higher.
The Verbatim Ultra HD 4K External Slimline Blu-ray Writer (Model 43888) is generally compatible with MacBooks, including the MacBook Pro M3/2024, provided the operating system and hardware requirements are met.
### Compatibility
- The drive uses USB 3.0 and USB-C, which is compatible with most modern MacBooks.
### Software
- The drive comes with the Nero Burn & Archive software, but it can also work without additional software, as macOS offers its own burning functions. However, the included software may be useful for advanced burning functions.
### Operating system
- It should be compatible with macOS 15 Sequoia as there are no specific restrictions for this version of the operating system.
To summarise: The Verbatim Ultra HD 4K External Slimline Blu-ray Writer should work fine with your MacBook Pro M3/2024 and macOS 15 Sequoia without the need for additional software, unless you require special burning features provided by the included Nero software.
No playback software is included with the drive; VLC Media Player lacks the CODECs. I don't know whether copy-protected Blu-rays can also be played with suitable software.
Hello,
the question about the playable formats: It supports all common formats.
Fully compatible with MDISC™ archiving technology.
Stores up to 100 GB on a BDXL disc / 8.5 GB on a DL DVD / up to 4.7 GB on a standard DVD.
Unfortunately I can't answer the question about macOS, because I only use Windows or Linux as OS.
Greetings Elmar
To play Blu-Ray, you need software, e.g. the Leawo Blu-ray Video Player (free) or purchased software versions such as PowerDVD or the Aiseesoft Blu ray Player (but they cost money).
Windows 10 no longer supports this. Additional software is required for this, e.g. the free Leawo Blu-ray Player, but this is really only compatible with Windows 10 and no longer with Windows 11.
I haven't had any problems with the reading speed so far. However, I need the Verbatim Slimline mainly to burn BlueRay videos. The data quality and not the speed is in the foreground.
An audio CD can probably be written at 24x speed, according to Internet data.
Here it is only stated that a DVD can be burnt at 8x speed.
