The "Silver Dynamic H3 (12 V, 100 Ah, 830 A)" battery from Varta is generally suitable for the Mercedes CLK 240 Cabrio W209, as it has a starter battery with 12 volts, 100 Ah capacity and 830 A cold test current, which roughly meets the requirements. However, according to the manufacturer's specifications, the Mercedes CLK 240 (C209) usually has a battery with approx. 90 Ah and a cold test current of around 820 A, with pole arrangement 0 (positive pole on the right) and dimensions of around 315-353 mm long and 175 mm wide, which corresponds to the dimensions and specifications of the Varta battery. The Varta battery also has pole arrangement 0 (positive pole on the right) and is a lead-acid WET starter battery, which is compatible. It is nevertheless advisable to check the exact dimensions and terminal arrangement in the vehicle, as the Mercedes CLK 240 Cabrio W209 can use different battery types (AGM, EFB, GEL) with similar specifications. The Varta Silver Dynamic H3 meets the requirements for a standard starter battery without a start-stop system and should therefore fit.

The manufacturer does not release this battery for start/stop. This is what my research has shown. I would install a suitable AGM battery. Important! Be sure to teach the new battery.

The Silver range is performance-oriented for high-end vehicles, the Blue range for mid-range cars. The Silver has a little more capacity than the Blue and a little higher starting current as well. https://www.varta-automotive.com/fr-ch/produits/varta-silver-dynamic/600-402-083 https://www.varta-automotive.com/fr-ch/produits/varta-blue-dynamic/595-402-080

Hello, To answer your question, we generally give a life span of 4 or 5 years to such a battery, which seems quite normal in the case of yours, and for your kind of vehicle. Personally, mine gave out after a year (?), for no obvious reason... But I know from experience that this can be the consequence of a sudden weakness of a lead dioxide bar, which results in a short-circuit in the battery, which amounts to an irreversible malfunction... It should not be forgotten that these batteries are relatively delicate chemical-electrical organs and particularly sensitive to the treatments imposed on them. This means that, like us, they can mysteriously stop working after the first year, or even last well beyond five years, but this is rather rare... Have a nice day!
