TP-Link Archer MR400
TP-Link Archer MR400
Correct - the 3 x LAN and 1 x LAN/WAN ports are only 10/100Mbps. You can find the full spec on the TP-Link website - google the product name
If your Wi-Fi card looks like this one, then from your picture it looks like the top slot will accommodate the two gold inserts on the bottom of the card. So, unscrew the plate/cover for that top slot, make sure your computer is unplugged, https://codessaver.com/store/viking-bags/ make sure your body is electrically/statically discharged, then install the Wi-Fi adapter into your main/motherboard. Watch a YouTube video on the subject if you've never done this before.
Good day As far as I can see, the 2 antennas at the back of the housing are for the WLAN and not for the LTE (mobile network). So a better antenna probably won't help. I think the only thing left to do is to position the device better in order to achieve a better signal strength. Best regards
In principle, there are such antennas. However, the last Archer MR400 I ordered from Digitec no longer has RP-SMA antenna connections, but the antennas shown are fixed to the housing. I'm sure there is a way to convert it, but the device has to be opened and will probably lose its warranty. It is a pity, but now I have to look for an alternative product, as I have made many installations with the predecessor model Archer MR200 with external antennas.
Unfortunately, we do not have any empirical data on this, but we have forwarded the enquiry to our community and hope that a user will be able to comment on it.
According to our information, VPN passthrough works with this model. However, we do not know how and whether it differs from the MR200.
Hello The MR400 is more powerful: https://www.digitec.ch/de/Comparison/5633693-6521066 otherwise both have similar features. Greetings
Yes, switching Wi-Fi completely on and off according to a schedule works. There is a function to block WLAN per device (parental control), but I have not been able to get it to work. I am now doing this again via FritzBox (i.e. TP-LINK connected to FritzBox, all other settings via FritzBox).
Yes, this should be possible according to the following specifications: https://www.tp-link.com/de/home-networking/3g-4g-router/archer-mr400/#specifications I have been using this device for my mother's fixed IP telephone in a nursing home for several years without interruption to avoid hotel telephone tariffs. When setting it up, I unfortunately found that the reception via SIM card is extremely weak. Depending on the weather, between 2-5 Mbit/s. That is barely enough for telephony. So far away from the described maximum possible 150 Mbit/s. My mobile has much better reception at the same location. The reception unit for the signals coming in via the SIM card probably has too weak an antenna. I would definitely test this on the sailing yacht. Be sure to use 12V 1A. For the speed test: https://www.speedtest.net/
I did the math and came up with about 10.-/year at 15 Rp/kWh.
The best thing is to call them and ask... I doubt that you will get any legally binding information here.
I use a 2nd SIM card from Swisscom, which works great.
You could extend the range with a mesh repeater. See: Tp-Link WLAN Mesh Repeater RE505X (1200Mbit/s, 300Mbit/s)
Follow this link for setting port forwarding in the MR400: https://www.tp-link.com/us/user-guides/Archer-MR400_V3/chapter-10-nat-forwarding How ever: If you are using LTE to access the internet from the MR400, you are most probably unlucky as most LTE providers perform network address translation (NAT) again on their network and you will not be able to set port forwarding there. How to find out? Look at the EXTERNAL (Internet side) IP address your MR400 is getting: if your router's IP address is in one of the RFC1918 IP ranges (10.0.0.0 – 10.255.255.255, 172.16.0.0 – 172.31.255.255, 192.168.0.0 – 192.168.255.255) then it won't work.
Hi, I received the Archer MR400 V3 version with firmware 1.8.0.9 1
Hello Hösi It doesn't have a phone jack RJ11 on the unit and I wouldn't have noticed any setting for it.
1. my flat is also about this bigy goes without problems. The router transmits on 2 frequencies: on 2.4 Ghz (further distance, possibly a little slower) and 5 Ghz for less range, but better speed depending on the situation. 2. I don't know because I use a SIM card. 3. don't know the Sonos, but if it's a normal WLAN speaker I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work with this WLAN router.
Yes, the router has a mechanical on/off switch. It is located on the back. I'm not at the device right now, but as I remember, it sticks out of the housing (when switched off). To turn it on, you push it into the case. Hope that helps.
Yes, it works perfectly for me!
Unfortunately we can not say that definitely. It would, however, for example, with 2 x Delock GSM/UMTS/LTE Verlängerungskabel, 10m be easily possible.
Apple TV itself already has WLAN integrated; no additional receiver is needed. Works wonderfully with the MR400 (Apple TV 4).
I cannot comment on outdoor antennas as I don't use any. But experiment with where you place the router, this often makes a big difference. In my case, signal strength went up from 25% to 75% (4G Mode) by moving the access point to a different location. If you mean the WLAN signal strength, then use the 2.4GHz band.
