Yes, with this receiver you can simultaneously record a programme and watch another programme that has already been recorded. Thanks to the quadruple cable tuner, it is even possible to record up to three programmes at the same time while watching a fourth live.
The device is not a satellite receiver, but a cable receiver that supports DVB-C and IPTV. It does not offer a satellite reception function. So if you don't need satellite reception, the device is a good fit for your requirements.
Hello,
I have connected a WD-Elements 3TB (10 years old) and am satisfied with it.
Picture quality and everything is fine. For this price, the receiver is perfect with the option of recording or watching 3 programmes at the same time.
Recommended from my side.
Hello Helmut,
The receiver allows you to programme up to 3 simultaneous programmes, but then you can no longer switch to another channel or watch a 4th programme.
I have not changed anything in the basic settings.
Any portable USB 2 or 3 hard disc fits the device. The storage capacity depends on the planned use. The connection cable is usually included with the portable hard disc, which is formatted and registered via the menu in the TechniSat device
Hello Martin
I have been using this Technistar for a very long time without any problems. For my recordings, I use a Western Digital Passport Ultra hard disk. With this, several programmes can be recorded perfectly at the same time. I have had bad experiences with USB sticks, because they are simply too slow for the TS or TS4 video data stream.
Hello
The brand of the USB HDD doesn't matter (WD, Seagate, Freecom, Samsung, etc.), but it should be of good quality. For higher demands, there are also more expensive types, especially for professional continuous use (but not necessary here in my opinion).
No, unfortunately that is not possible, this receiver cannot install any applications. To watch Netflix, a Google Chromecast with Google TV, for example, would be a good solution, as Android TV applications can be installed there.
Google Chromecast with TV (Google Assistant)
The USB interface is only used for saving to the hard disk, but not for receiving the transmitters. The receiving unit is responsible for reception and splitting. Recordings are first buffered via the internal memory and only then written to the connected USB HDD or SSD.
Hello
According to the TechniSat website:
"To use Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, you need an additional device, such as a Fire TV Stick from Amazon or Google Chromecast."
Kind regards
Hello,
I have used the Technistar K4 ISIO with 4 or 5 TB SATA hard discs from time to time without any problems. They simply had to pass the ISIO DVR suitability test, which can be found in the settings menu of the K4 (Setup -> Manage films-DVR, music, pictures -> Recording media settings -> Check DVR suitability). In my opinion, SSDs should also work, but they were too expensive for me at the time.
I formatted the discs to NTFS, as FAT can only hold 2 TB. I've since gone back to 2TB discs because the hard drives are shock-sensitive and I was afraid of losing too much data at once in the event of problems, but I never actually had any.
I hope this helps, good luck!
I still have the previous Technistar K4 ISIO with its own internal 2TB hard drive and am actually very happy with it until the recorded films suddenly stopped playing - now power off and power on and then it worked again. Now the device gets quite warm but not excessively so. I'm thinking about buying a new one, but unfortunately it's only FullHD. It would be nice if it were also available in 4K with 4 recording options, but what I don't like is that you have to run the films on an external USB HD.
One question with the new K4 - what kind of external USB hard drive can you recommend, it has to have a USB A connection and then the question is about speed and SSD or HD? at least 2 GB what do you have in use that works well? Thanks for your feedback. best regards
I don't know from experience.
But the description of the Sataccess card on this site says here: "The Sataccess SRG SSR card with the proven Swiss CI Viaccess module as a bundle.
Works in all SAT receivers with CI slot."
This receiver has a CI+-capable slot, which as far as I know should be backwards compatible with CI. So it should work. The shape of the module makes the Sataccess module look compatible with the UPC module that I use, but in DVB-C cable reception.
You could also ask Technisat yourself on their German website.
My fourth replacement unit of the same type (Technisat Technistar K4 ISIO, HDTV digital cable receiver with 4-fold tuner) reacts in the same way as the "old" Technistar K4 units.
Problem:
- the unit gets very hot at times.
- the folder "My TV recordings" suddenly disappears.
- Two of the replacement units stopped sending a signal via the HDMI port after a few days. The screen remained black.
Is it worth having the unit repaired a fifth time? Or is there a similar Technisat device? I am still a fan of this 4-way tuner (...)
Has anyone had similar experiences?
Hi! The K4 ISIO only messed up the channel order for me, every time after switching off. Otherwise I couldn't find any problems. Before that I had the TechniSat Digit ISIO C, which ran wonderfully (only twin tuner). Best picture quality I have ever seen (I have had several receivers). Everything about it ran flawlessly, but I wanted to try something different with the K4. There are no differences worth mentioning for me, except for the channels. But the ISIO C is absolutely recommendable if you are considering a new purchase. Greetings, Angelo
I have tried it with a QNAP TS-453D (with QTS 5.0.1) but was unsuccessful, not even after lengthy research and numerous trials. I firmly believe the K4 ISIO has software / firmware problems for using it with with NAS devices. Even though I have no Synology SAN to try, I strongly suspect that would not work either.
I'm using the device with an USB SSD device without problems though. Transferring anything I'd like to preserve to that QNAP device is no problem though, just a bit of work (as usual :-). (I use WinX HD Video Converter.)
Good luck.
