What about a RAM upgrade? I read this on the internet: http://blog.tom-goetz.org/2016/12/upgrading-synology-ds416play-to-8gb-ram.html Is there a RAM recommendation that you can buy at Digitec?

Works flawlessly and improves performance. I have installed this DIMM: Crucial CT102464BF160B (1x, 8GB, DDR3L-1600, SODIMM 204)

How does the device run as a Plex Media Server? Would the CPU be able to handle 2 simultaneous streams?

I would rather go for DS918+ or DS916+. With the DualCore of the DS416play, it will be very tight with two streams. However, if you have all the videos in the corresponding format of the target devices (e.g. the .mp4 format for the iPad) on the NAS, the play will probably be sufficient. My recommendation for the future is the 918+.
