Rockstar Games (often simply called Rockstar or abbreviated by R*) is a subsidiary of Take 2 Interactive, under whose name computer games are distributed in the USA and other countries. The company is the publisher and developer of Grand Theft Auto, Max Payne, Red Dead, Midnight Club, Bully, Manhunt, The Warriors and L.A. Noire.
Rockstar was founded in 1998 by Sam Houser, Terry Donovan, Dan Houser, Jamie King and Gary J. Foreman in New York. All five founding members had previously worked together at BMG Interactive and Take 2.
