Yes, I assume so because I have an HDD installed that is identical to the SSD. Have fun, the case looks good and is also robust.

Yes, USB 3.0 is backwards compatible.

Yeah, that should work fine! We did the same.. removed the old HD and put an SSD in the MBP. The old HD works fine in the external case.
