You do not need to use a Polar app to connect this device to your phone; it can connect directly to your phone via Bluetooth Low Energy and is compatible with many third-party apps, including Strava, as long as the app supports Bluetooth heart rate sensors. The device broadcasts your heart rate using standard Bluetooth and ANT+ profiles, so you can pair it directly with your phone or other compatible devices without any Polar software.

Helpful answer

Hi, to connect it to a watch which supports bluetooth or ant+ it’s not an issue at all. The question is more about if you’re going to get a better measurement, which I really doubt. I bought it , but I still can’t cover HIIT training peaks with it, it’s still slower than the heart belt which I would recommend in this case. If your training is rather steady with slower changes in your heart rate, then yes, you can buy it!

Polar OH1 vs. Polar OH1+ The first model (this model) was the OH1, followed by the OH1+. There is only one difference between the two models: ANT+ was integrated into the OH1+ from the outset. Polar subsequently activated this in the OH1 as well with a firmware update. In this respect, both product designations are common: OH1 and OH1+
