The weighting of the product clearly lies with the lighting...radio is an extra...you don't have to buy it. Personally, I am satisfied with it...but I would only buy it at the special offer price...because there are now better products in terms of design...but as I said...fulfils the purpose...big criterion = no radio clock...meanwhile every alarm clock for 10.00 has one...
The light (display contrast) can be set from level 0 (off) to level 4. Level 0 is not completely off but hardly visible.
I also prefer to sleep in total darkness but the glow of this clock does not bother me.

The display cannot be switched off completely. In my opinion, the lowest brightness level is already very dark and not disturbing. We have been using the alarm clock for about 2 weeks now and are totally thrilled with it. It's a completely different way to wake up when the light slowly comes on and then the radio switches on with your favourite station. This makes waking up fun. :)
The buttons for switching the light on or off, but also the alarm buttons are on the back of the device and therefore not so easy to reach in the dark. However, Philips has come up with something for the snooze mode: Tap the lamp lightly twice with your finger.
Hello Tacheles
It may sound strange but you have to touch the alarm clock above the time display (i.e. a light push) to snooze the alarm. Then it will also stop sounding.
1. alarm cannot be set separately for each day of the week. (only 2 options that can be activated separately). 2. 2. yes, there are batteries to compensate for power failure 3. yes, either with or without time limit (sunset). 4. FM reception is OK. with quite a long antenna. We also have concrete and it works fine. 5. no idea what alternative there is. Probably alarm clocks controlled by an app.
