I've been thinking about buying one of these for a long time, but as I've only ever shaved with foam and a blade, I have no idea whether it's worth it and whether the shave is anything like a good wet shave. It's a bit expensive just to try it out, especially as you can't give it back once you've tested it. Or are there options?

Is the adjustable cutter included? Any experience with trimming to a neat 3-day beard?

I received my SP9883/35 shaver today and tried to connect it to the Philips GroomTribe app, which didn't work. After contacting the Philips hotline, I learnt that the appliance does not support the app. The SP9987 model has this feature. I am a bit disappointed, also the other model number seems newer. Have I now bought an "old" device for CHF 499?

When unpacking, the experience is "refreshing" - great design, a hard case with 3 optional attachments, the wireless charging pad, the cleaning station and the shaver itself (including a small brush for cleaning out, of course) what stands out right from the start: - the cleaning station can be easily refilled and works WITHOUT its own power connection - Wireless charging on the charging pad (a stylish hit) The shaver is suitable for dry and wet shaving. After two weeks of testing in dry shaving mode and wet shaving mode, my verdict so far is as follows: - very good shave even with "fluff" and frizzy hair - comparable to manual wet shaving - super practical and fast charging thanks to the charging pad - easy cleaning even without the station by rinsing with water - Long overall running time of the shaver I have only briefly tested the attachments and the cleaning station so far, attachments are easy to install and work, more in a longer review in the long-term test in a few months on YT. I noticed two things: - the zip of the hard case is a bit heavy - if you previously had a foil shaver: don't shave like with a foil shaver, circular movements are the order of the day, otherwise it won't get really clean and the head grumbles a bit with bristles - nice circular movements like in the operating instructions, then it'll be fine! I will continue to have fun with the appliance, no longer have to wet shave twice a week and I am delighted!
