Hello, if I connect the device as an access point via WLAN to the router and connect several Compi & NAS via LAN cable to the AP, can these devices then communicate with each other "directly" via LAN or does all communication always go via WLAN to the router and back? Many thanks&greetings

Helpful answer
A 4-port switch is integrated in the access point, which remembers the MAC addresses of the connected devices; as if it were a standalone switch. The WLAN part is like an additional port that is also connected to the switch. Thus, it knows which device is connected to which port and can operate them directly (without a diversion).

Afternoon. I am considering buying the above. Before I order.... Currently I have a Swisscom provided internet box(model 2) for my home services. However wifi is not good at the top of the house and I want a 2nd access point installed with wifi and a couple of LAN ports. This is why I want to buy this Access Point. I intend to connect to the main swisscom internet box via an ethernet cable from one floor to the other. Is the Netgear Access point easy to connect / install ? Basic knowledge is all I have.

My WLAN runs via Netgear R7000 Nighthawk. If I connect the access point via LAN cable (over two floors), can the WAC124 then reproduce exactly the same WLAN signal (not "Wifiname_EXT" but "Wifiname")?

If Netgear WAC124 is used as an access point on two floors: identical SSID name with identical password possible. Mobile phone, tablet or notebook automatically select the stronger signal. However, if you want to know which access point you are connected to, then name: xxxxx plus floor number and password identical on all access points. |----- Internet (WLan) ------| ----- WLan1 ------| ----- WLan2
