Question about Netgear WAC124
Afternoon. I am considering buying the above. Before I order.... Currently I have a Swisscom provided internet box(model 2) for my home services. However wifi is not good at the top of the house and I want a 2nd access point installed with wifi and a couple of LAN ports. This is why I want to buy this Access Point. I intend to connect to the main swisscom internet box via an ethernet cable from one floor to the other. Is the Netgear Access point easy to connect / install ? Basic knowledge is all I have.
You need to have some basic knowledge to configure the box, but for a basic setup if you don't want to do anything fancy it is not difficult. And you can always borrow the 16 year old nerd from the next door ;)
I can only recommend this box: the wlan is fast, the box is reliable. I have a concrete house with 3 floors, so I have 4 of these, and haven't had any problems for the last 6 months I've had them. You'll probably end up replacing the swisscom wlan with a second one when you notice how good it is :)
Hi, when I bought the first of this, I got mad multiple days because I could not access their web interface.
Then I have understood that my main router (or this device, I haven't understood well) were doing a name replace for the address of the web interface.
Long story short, after I've started to access the web interface via IP, everything worked really fine. And I've bought other 2 of these devices, so I have in total 3, each of them covering a floor in my house, all of them configured with the same wifi name and password, so when I change floor, all my devices reconnect to wifi automatically.
