There is a router that you connect to the LAN and 2 satellites that you place somewhere (within range). By default, the router creates its own Wi-Fi network and you do not need a separate Wi-Fi router. If you already have a WLAN, which is the case for most people who have been provided with a device by the IPS (Internet service provider), then you can also switch the Netgear router to AP mode and expand the existing network. I did this, for example, because I could no longer access certain Sonos boxes. Here are a few useful links regarding "Double NAT" and "AP mode": https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT https://kb.netgear.com/20927/How-do-I-change-my-NETGEAR-router-to-AP-mode-after-setting-it-up

Yes and no, you can't amplify the signal from the M1, but you can connect the M1 via LAN cable to the mesh router and create a stand-alone mesh network. That's how I did it and the coverage/speed is much better than just the power from the M1. Greetings
