There is a router that you connect to the LAN and 2 satellites that you place somewhere (within range). By default, the router creates its own Wi-Fi network and you do not need a separate Wi-Fi router. If you already have a WLAN, which is the case for most people who have been provided with a device by the IPS (Internet service provider), then you can also switch the Netgear router to AP mode and expand the existing network. I did this, for example, because I could no longer access certain Sonos boxes.
