This question cannot be answered so simply... The current BIOS of the MSI X399 SLI Plus is from November 2018. If the MBo was newly produced, there is a good chance that the current BIOS is already installed. Nevertheless, you should not be afraid to install a BIOS. Under Windows, this can be done directly from the operating system. Under Linux it is not possible directly ... but it is always possible by reading in a UBS stick with the current BIOS zip file (download from the MSI support website) via the running BIOS of the MoBo and is well described in the MoBo manual. 2. 2. my MoBo ran with an older BIOS and a 2950X on the first try under Ubuntu 18.04 (assembled end of 2018). After updating the BIOS, I did not notice any changes (the BIOS ChangeLog provides information about the changes). However, I have only used Ubuntu (currently 19.10) so far. But I see no reason why W10 should not also run. Since the assembly, the machine has been running without any problems. 3. I can't say anything about the combination of MSI X399 SLI Plus and 2920X, but I see no reason why it shouldn't run.

I guess if the socket and the board in general is ok and asking why it is being sold can't hurt ^^, the accessories are pretty standard, a bunch of Sata cables and SLI/Crossfire bridges who ever built a PC will have that stuff lying around in abundance at home. Other than that, I can't think of anything else.
