You can't switch it off. So there is no option as far as I know. But I don't find it annoying.

A new battery/button cell should help, i.e. a CR 2025 or a CR 2032, both 3V. I also had to change our battery recently.

It is really very quiet, but in the higher price segment.
I also have this Venti in the children's room (kids are 2 and 4 years old). Nothing bad can actually happen. You might not want to put the valve up high so that it doesn't fall down when the kids pull on the cable...
