Can this whiteboard also be hung upside down at 90 degrees? I need a board with a width of 50 and a height of any size.

Yes, you can do that. I also hung it up on edge👍🏼.

Can the board be hung 60x40 as well as 40x60?

Yes. According to the instructions: https://white-boards.de/media/catalog/product/cache/c13b542d53a3aca84987f979c5c1ccf1/s/p/spiegelophang_76001_001_76001_002_1.jpg This should not be a problem. The brackets are on all sides.
