Our model is about 6 months old and does about 90 minutes. In this time it manages to clean our rather sparsely furnished 90m2 flat. But we have no carpets and no thresholds. If the charging station is easily accessible, it makes a pit stop and then continues.

Hello Fabibert He just leaves the room out. You only notice the intelligent navigation when he locks himself in a room (slams the door behind him). It then reports this accordingly via the smartphone app. Ps: It's really a great helper, I wouldn't give it away ;)

Hello Elianatucuma Thank you for your question. The only significant difference is the carpet booster, which the Roomba 980 has. However, both models are now outdated and have fewer functions than would be possible today. We would therefore like to recommend the Roomba i7 vacuum robot to you at this point: iRobot Roomba i7 Unlike the Roomba 960 or 980 you mentioned, the Roomba i7 has the following features: - Cleans with 10x more suction power - Best suited for entire floors and large areas - Creates up to 10 maps of your home e.g. one map per floor - Clean or schedule room by room via the iRobot HOME App - Favour cleaning patterns, set blocking and cleaning zones and create schedules via the iRobot HOME app If you have any questions or queries, please feel free to contact us directly at any time. You can reach us at +41 62 746 06 74 or by email at service@irobotics.ch. Best regards, Your iRobot Team

This model records the cleaning route using the camera. The map in the app shows where the cleaning was done - and where it was not. The map is re-recorded with each cleaning cycle. It is not possible to define rooms on the map and send the robot there specifically. Otherwise, we are very satisfied with the Roomba.

Hey, I have a very dark vinyl floor with a wood texture and it recognises it without any problems. However, I can imagine that there can be problems with black floors with little structure. But the software is getting better and better and so is the recognition of dark floors.

What is the difference with the 980?

As far as I know, there are the following differences with the 980: - stronger motor - bigger battery - longer runtime - automatic carpet detection, which increases the suction power - slightly louder Since we don't have many carpets and the battery power is easily enough to clean our 5 1/2 room flat, I opted for the cheaper 960 model. We haven't regretted it for a minute. Theoretically, the battery can also be replaced with the larger model of the 980, so that a longer runtime can also be achieved with the 960.

Good day Driftar1942, Unfortunately you cannot demarcate the areas on the map itself, as David correctly explained, you can do this with the virtual walls. You can test whether the Roomba 960 gets stuck on your chairs thanks to Buy&Try. If you are not satisfied, you can return the Roomba 960 to us. Thank you and best regards Your iRobot Team

Hello Lorddark, Yes, the robot also cleans carpets. The "bristles" are actually hair, so I'm thinking of fringes, It depends on the length. Carpets with high fringes are not suitable for the Roomba. As these carpets have very high pile and are soft, the Roomba sinks into them and cannot move. The carpet should not exceed 1-2 cm, the length of the fringes should not exceed 6 cm. However, you can block the Roomba carpet with a virtual wall, for example, or by turning the carpet upside down so that Roomba cannot roll over it. Sincerely, your iRobot-Team.

There are no problems. You can put the robot in a room and start cleaning. The robot maps the room and it's done. No programming, nothing ☺️

This function is not available. It needs the additional components that create the virtual wall by means of light. Will that still come? ... At least the map showing the cleaned areas would be activated in the last update.

In a dwelling without stairs for the most part. We no longer want to be without. But with stairs and pets, we still have to do a weekly check. I would fix cables to the skirting board with adhesive clips. The rubber rollers would peel off the adhesive tape over time.
