can the box also be operated sensibly with linux (ubuntu)?

Hard drive height 12.7 mm, but my 3.5" hard drives are twice as high. Do normal 3.5" hard drives fit in there at all? Thanks for the info, renrew

Yes, 3.5" fit in. Adapters are included for the 2.5" hard drives. Perhaps it is important to know that there are no problems with new, unformatted hard disks, but I assumed that I could simply plug in my existing external hard disks and they would be read. Didn't work that way. I had to reformat all of them and copy the contents again. Otherwise, the box does everything as expected. I can recommend it.

no it doesn't - it is jbod but those Icy Box which DO support they don't report SMART errors so only you will know that there is a problem once your data is gone. This is superb array - i have 4 and actively monitor with smartctl on linux.

(I use various USB C -> USB A cables) I just received and tested this product, I have a throughput of : - USB 2.0 port -> 17.5 Mb/s - USB 3.2 Gen1 port -> 22.4 Mb/s (write speeds) If I use the same hard drives, connected to an old Digitus USB 3.0 I get 44 MB/s with the same data. Tests on AOREUS x570 motherboard + various SATA III hard drives all gave the same results. Hypothesis: 1) I don't have the right USB C - USB A cable in this case which one to buy from you? 2) Hardware compatibility not switching to 3.0 ? but to 2.0 ? 3) The manufacturer announces a restricted bandwidth or simply a half lie (deception)? This is one of the worst accessories I've ever bought...in 30 years.laborious assembly, not much "Service Freundlich" and the worst, the power supply connection on the side of the device and not on the back! You have to leave a space of 3-4 cm next to another device on a shelf for example :( Also, angry with Digitec. Is it becoming standard to have a European 220V plug? PS: the product (packaging etc) was obviously not new when I received the goods.
