The Huawei GT5 Pro (46 mm) has a barometer that serves as an altimeter. It automatically measures altitude and atmospheric pressure at the current location and offers a calibration function for more accurate altitude readings. The altitude measurement is based on the barometer sensor, but this can occasionally be inaccurate and calibration in an open outdoor area is recommended. The watch displays barometric pressure and altitude and supports calibration via the barometer app or through outdoor training with a GPS signal. It therefore has an altimeter similar to other Huawei smartwatches.
The ECG function is basically integrated in the Huawei GT5 Pro (46 mm) and enables the recording of real-time heart data for the early detection of common heart problems. However, the availability of the ECG function is country-specific and there is no clear indication that it is officially enabled or authorised in Switzerland. Huawei refers to a list of supported countries for the ECG app without explicitly mentioning Switzerland. Therefore, the use of the ECG function may be restricted or not officially available in Switzerland.
The main difference between the Huawei Watch GT5 Pro and the GT3 Pro lies in the technical functions and design. The GT5 Pro offers an elegant titanium case, improved health functions such as ECG and arterial stiffness measurement as well as more precise GPS technology. The GT5 Pro also has a more modern design and improved heart rate measurement. The GT3 Pro, on the other hand, has a slightly older design and less advanced health functions.
Some of the key differences are:
- Case material: GT5 Pro uses titanium, while the GT3 Pro may use other materials.
- Health features: GT5 Pro offers ECG and arterial stiffness measurement, which is not the case with GT3 Pro.
- GPS technology: The GT5 Pro has improved GPS technology that increases accuracy.
- Design and compatibility: Both watches are compatible with Android and iOS, but the GT5 Pro has a more modern design.
The Huawei Watch GT5 Pro is compatible with iOS devices, including the iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, there are some limitations to consider:
- The watch can connect to an iPhone via Bluetooth, but the full functionality may not be available due to restrictions in the Huawei Health app on iOS. The app is available on the Apple App Store, but some features might not work as seamlessly as they do on Android devices.
- Users have reported issues with the Huawei Health app not being able to access Bluetooth on iOS devices, which can complicate the pairing process.
Despite these limitations, the watch can still be paired and used with an iPhone, albeit with some potential functional restrictions.
