The package is not necessarily an entry-level product, but for the price you get a very high-quality and comfortable headset that should guarantee you several years of gaming fun.
You can adjust the playing area yourself, but it is not infinitely large. If you have an area between 1.5 and 2 metres (square), it's perfect. You can also play sitting down and only move around with the controllers.
The Nvidia GTX 970 is specified as the minimum requirement (https://www.vive.com/%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20us/support/cosmos-elite/category_howto/what-are-the-system-requirements.html), which means you should have no problems with the 980.
The package includes everything you need: glasses, controllers, lightboxes (for tracking) and all cables and instructions.
There should be enough room in the headset for the glasses, but that may depend on how big the glasses are.
The setup is actually very easy and you are guided with a setup tool.
I also had this problem in the beginning.
First make sure that all drivers are installed. It needs a separate software for the HTC Vive glasses (does not work natively with Steam).
Then it was a trial and error with what start first (Vive app, Steam) and from the first time work, it has then always worked.
Otherwise reinstall the driver.
Hope that helps.
Yes, on the one hand there are no controllers included (so it's better to go for a set where the controllers are included), and on the other hand this VR Gear is not like the Quest with its own processor, so you need a powerful computer to play.
Hello,
For the headset to work properly you need at least the headset plus 2 bases, no matter what the htc and google website say, without the bases the headset is useless.
The controllers are optional.
Because the VR glasses are connected to your PC, they only display the image or game differently, the rest is still up to your computer, which means as much memory as you have on your computer, that's how many different games you can play. Of course every game needs memory so you can't download and play an infinite number of games. I hope I could help you.
Sincerely.

In contrast to the Vive Pro, the Vive Cosmos Elite has an image resolution of 2880x1700 pixels, while the Vive Pro has an image resolution of 2880x1600 pixels.
The Cosmos Elite also has a microphone and headphones built into the headset and sits better on the head, in my opinion.
Hey Andirichter!
Yes, that shouldn't be a problem. The set also only comes with 2 base stations 1.0, including 2 controllers. If you already have these things, you can just buy the other headset, without new stations and controllers.
Included with the "headset only" purchase is the long cable that goes into the adapter, which then connects to power, PC via USB and PC via DisplayPort. So you don't need to buy anything else there either.
Theoretically, you only need to buy the Elite headset, the rest you already have ;)

Hi Benjamin!
The enclosed Displayport cable and the enclosed USB cable are 1 metre long. You will connect the cables to a controller/adapter where the VR headset is also connected. The cable from the VR headset is about 3 metres long.
This headset is tracked by base stations which are included in the full kit. HTC Vive Cosmos Elite
To track it with the built-in cameras you need the Vive Cosmos.

Most games have teleport functions built in, so you can cover longer distances quickly without getting sick or taking up a lot of space.
Shorter distances to reach a switch or to look around can be achieved easily with just a few steps.
In Alyx, however, it is also possible to hide behind walls or containers, or to pick things up from the ground. Fast movements with the arms and upper body, as well as squatting for beats, also require a certain amount of freedom of movement.
That's why I personally think that a standing experience with light movement is best suited for these games.
The effort, space and cost of setting up a treadmill and wireless headset (you don't want to trip over the cable, after all) is far too high, in my opinion.
I can only imagine VR in a scene for flight simulators or the like.
Let's see how Star Wars Squadrons turns out in that respect.
