I chatted briefly with Garmin USA support. Unfortunately, no such function is available. I recommend that you tell Garmin yourself so that they can at least add such a function via an update. In any case, it sounds very tedious the way you describe it. PS: On the Vivosmart HR you can lock the screen by holding down the button.
