Hi, It is mandatory to have an active subscription, either a monthly or an annual one. Only then can the SOS function and the other functions be used. See here: https://discover.garmin.com/de-CH...

Hello Leitwerk, Since you can install any iPhone app on your iPad, this should be possible without any problems. Alternatively, you can simply access your personal Germin Map from your tablet via a browser.
