Can the shaver only be charged in the charging station or can a cable also be plugged in directly? Especially when travelling, I don't want to have to take a charging station with me.

The shaver can also be charged directly with cable only. It is the same cable that feeds the small round charging station. You can unplug it from the charging station (this is not very obvious, by the way) and plug it directly into the shaver. However, fully charged it lasts me two weeks with normal daily use. I would buy it again.

Cleaning station in addition to Braun Series 9 -9260PS: Charging function okay. Cleaning is not activated. Is this option really not possible?

Can I also charge and clean this Braun Series 9 - 9260s wet&dry via my cleaning station or only via the charging station supplied? Where are the electrical contacts located?

If you already have a Cleaning Station, you can also charge the unit with the station. There are 2 contact points on the station that charge the device when you insert it for cleaning.
