Yes you can add additional cameras either essential series, pro series, ultra series, go 2 series or even older models or pan tilt models. On my system I have pro and ultra on one base station 14 in total and they are working fine… hope this helps
No it hasn't - storage with Arlo is only more with subscription - I have already changed the majority of my cameras to Unify for this reason - you have to invest in hardware once but then you can store very flexibly... and meanwhile there are also cameras that also work with wireless and not only with ethernet... and if you want to use the feed in another platform, that works much better too. I don't buy Arlo's anymore.
If the VMB 5000 base station was included in the package, data can be stored on a MicroSD card (see the comparison of the various Arlo base stations on the following link: https://www.arlo.com/de_ch...).
Yes, you can access the base station with the Arlo app and receive push notifications. The app allows you to control the cameras, live streams and notifications when motion is detected, including smart notifications with image previews if you use the Arlo Secure cloud service.
Yes - the VMB5000 SmartHub base station, which is included in the set, has a microSD card slot. It can read the following formats: microSD, microSDHC, microSDXC, formatted with FAT32. Minimum capacity is 16 GB and can safely go up to 512 GB. I have also read about 2TB.
The SD card is automatically overwritten when it is full; by default, the oldest recording is deleted to make room for new ones. The SD card can be read in via the app and the memory status displayed.
The smart hub included with this camera set is the Arlo Ultra SmartHub, model number VMB-5000, which securely connects the cameras to the internet via the router and supports dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) for better range and battery life. It is compatible with the Ultra 2 camera and allows local storage via a micro SD card in the hub itself.
To install eight cameras without using a hub, it is possible to connect the cameras directly to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. However, this may limit some advanced features that require a SmartHub, such as using local SD or USB storage via the SmartHub. Arlo cameras can be configured via the Arlo application for direct installation on the Wi-Fi network.
Hello, I'll answer your questions:
1. Adding more cameras: You can add more cameras to your system, but it's important to check compatibility with the SmartHub you're using. Arlo generally allows you to add several cameras to a single SmartHub, but there are limits depending on the SmartHub model.
2. Buy two kits: If you buy two identical kits, they should work together in the same housing, provided you use a single SmartHub that is compatible with all the cameras. Make sure that the SmartHub can handle the total number of cameras you want to connect.
Arlo Ultra 2 cameras typically have a battery life of between 3 and 6 months, depending on settings and usage. For maximum battery life of 6 months, it is recommended that the motion detection and sound settings are optimally configured.
The term "add-on camera" for the Arlo Ultra 2 Spotlight camera means that this camera can be used as a complementary unit to an existing Arlo surveillance system. It is not designed as a stand-alone system, but rather as an extension for an existing system that contains an Arlo SmartHub or a base station.
This add-on camera can be connected and managed with the existing system to monitor additional areas of your home or property.
Your cameras will be automatically transferred to your new annual subscription once your trial subscription will expire. So no worries, all will be fine.
I can't compare it to previous versions (only own Ultra 2), but confirm that the Wi-Fi is very poor. It seems to me that the wall thickness/structure/number plays more of a role than the distance. I am not aware of any repeaters, unfortunately.
Hello hpwagner
On the Arlo homepage you can see the details of the scope of delivery, namely:
Scope of delivery:
Free Arlo Secure trial version
3 Arlo Ultra 2 cameras
3 rechargeable batteries
1 Magnetic charging cable
2 Magnetic wall mount and screw kit
1 Screw mount and screw kit
1 Smarthub (this is the "base station")
1 Ethernet cable
1 Quick start guide
1 Video surveillance sticker
I don't know which is better. But I was also in your situation and I connected all 8 cameras to a single base and it seems easier to use that way.

If I interpret this correctly and also look at other mail order companies, for CHF 299 you only get 1 camera + battery, power supply, magnetic charging cable, magnetic mount, screw set for wall mounting, quick start guide and a "video surveillance" sticker.
