Several years before the events of The Evil Within, Sebastian's daughter Lily died in a tragic apartment fire. Shortly thereafter, he was abandoned by his wife, and his life began to unravel. It has been three years since Sebastian Castellanos started investigating a gruesome series of murders at the Beacon Mental Hospital. Here, he became trapped in a bizarre nightmare world that stemmed from the mind of a killer. After barely surviving the events of the first game, Sebastian was left to fend for himself. He lost his job, his will, he lost everything. No one believed his story about Beacon. He spent the last three years fruitlessly searching for those responsible for what happened to him at the Beacon Mental Hospital. But now, there is finally a glimmer of hope for Sebastian.
