In Nelke & the Legendary Alchemists: Ateliers of the New World, players take on the role of the young noblewoman Nelke von Lestamm, who soon realizes that alchemy is not one of her strengths.

Although she is fascinated by the magical history of the Granzweit tree, she chooses to pursue a worldly career as a government official to help people even without alchemical abilities. On the day of her graduation from the academy, she hears the rumor that the legendary tree can be found near the village of Westwald. Her father grants Nelke permission to search for the Granzweit tree, provided she agrees to take care of the region as the governor of Westwald.

For Westwald to transform from a picturesque village into a thriving city, players will need the help of the many alchemists from previous entries in the Atelier series, who make their return in Nelke & the Legendary Alchemists: Ateliers of the New World.
