RAM technology at maximum capacity:

• Maximum possible memory configuration (with 2 CPUs, each having 8 slots):
• UDIMM ECC: 128GB RAM (2 x 8GB ECC UDIMM)
• RDIMM 2Rank: 256GB RAM (2 x 16GB RDIMM)
• RDIMM 4Rank: 512GB RAM (2 x 32GB RDIMM)
• LRDIMM: 512GB RAM (2 x 32GB LRDIMM)

ECC DIMM, Registered DIMM, and Load Reduced LRDIMM memory modules must not be mixed. Therefore, when upgrading, you should know which memory is already present or completely upgrade to RDIMM memory.

Principles of memory configuration:

• Each CPU has 4 memory channels with 2 memory slots each.
• ECC DIMM, Registered DIMM, and Load Reduced LRDIMM memory modules must not be mixed.
• Memory slots without a processor present must not be populated.
• Memory configuration for good system performance: Distribute the memory evenly across the memory slots and evenly across the CPUs. If more than one CPU is present, the memory should be identical per CPU (mirrored to the other CPU).
