RDIMM 8GB RAM 24, 256GB UDIMM ECC memory, and RDIMM (Registered) server memory cannot be used together. Therefore, when upgrading, you should know which memory is already present or completely upgrade to RDIMM memory.

Principles of memory configuration:

• There are 2 memory controllers per CPU, each with 4 memory slots.
• The 4 memory slots per memory controller must be populated identically (4 identical memory modules each).
• The different memory controllers can be populated differently.
• Only the memory slots where the respective CPU is present can be used.

Memory configuration for good system performance:

• Distribute the memory evenly across the memory slots and evenly across the CPUs.
• When all slots of a CPU are populated, performance can be up to three times faster.
• If more than one CPU is present, the memory should be populated identically (mirrored to the other CPU) per CPU.
