Consumer devices, as well as many professional keyboards like synthesizers and digital pianos, as well as some small mixing consoles, have unbalanced outputs. To connect them to a sound system and overcome longer cable runs without interference, balanced signal transmission is required. The Palmer Kyll performs the necessary signal balancing. Through galvanic isolation via a transformer, the Kyll simultaneously eliminates ground loops; a ground lift switch is built-in. This also benefits devices that already have balanced outputs, as they can also experience interference. The Palmer Kyll reliably eliminates hum and crackling. The Palmer Kyll is very level-stable. Compared to typical line isolators for media applications, it can handle significantly "hotter" input signals without unwanted distortion becoming audible: up to +20 dBu! However, it can also process quieter signals without sound distortion or noise, as it operates purely passively with generously sized isolation transformers. This makes the Palmer Kyll extremely easy to use and fail-safe, as it requires neither batteries nor phantom power. Conveniently, the inputs are designed as combo jacks that accept either 1/4" or XLR connectors, eliminating the need for adapters! The balanced outputs are implemented as professional XLR connectors.
