NIS Kamiwaza: Way of the Thief

On the streets of Mikado, only the tough survive. For one man, a botched heist will change his life forever.

Kamiwaza takes place during the Edo period in Japan and follows the amateur thief Ebizo, who strives to steal from the rich and give to the poor. However, during his first job, he and his mentor Ainosuke witness their own men taking the lives of innocent civilians. Disillusioned by the horrific display of violence, Ainosuke advises Ebizo to flee with the only survivor—a lonely girl.

A decade later, Ebizo has held onto his morals and led an honest and fulfilling life with Suzuna, the young girl he has taken in as his own daughter. But the illusion of safety is shattered when Suzuna falls ill. To afford the medication she desperately needs, Ebizo faces a heavy financial burden. He is conflicted and forced to return to the darker sides of Mikado, yet he vows to steal only for the less fortunate.
