With the legendary integrated amplifier 3020, NAD's chief developer Björn Erik Edvardsen revolutionized the HiFi world in the late 1970s, creating one of the best-selling integrated amplifiers of all time. The highly musical performance of the 3020, combined with its outstanding price-performance ratio, served as the entry point for countless music fans into the world of sophisticated HiFi.

Today, music is primarily available in the form of digital data – on computers, smartphones, tablets, and in cloud-based music libraries. For these new media, "BEE" and his team have rethought proven audio technologies and supplemented them with entirely new approaches.

In the D 3020, all preamplifier functions occur in the digital domain. The conversion of incoming signals from digital source devices is handled directly by the sophisticated D/A converter of the D 3020. The analog signals then reach the highly efficient Class D power amplifiers from Hypex in the shortest possible path, providing sufficient power even for demanding speakers.

This is made possible by a new digital variant of the legendary PowerDrive technology in the D 3020. This allows the D 3020 to respond to the actual speaker load and adjust the operating voltage to fluctuating speaker loads. When the amplifier is connected to a computer via USB cable, the asynchronous USB interface of the D 3020 sets the pace and minimizes sound-degrading jitter to an absolute minimum.
