Mxr M81 Bass Preamp

The MXR Bass Preamp combines a flawless bass preamp with a studio-quality Direct Out in a Phase 90 enclosure, delivering a clear sound without taking up valuable space on your pedalboard. Use the MXR Bass Preamp to give an old passive bass a new voice, add a sweet touch to any amplifier, or give a specific song a special flair. Adjust it just the way you want and send it directly to the house with the built-in Direct Out – before or after the EQ.

The bass preamp features separate input and output level controls and a 3-band EQ section with a sweepable midrange – from 250 Hz to 1 kHz – for comprehensive tonal flexibility. Thanks to the proprietary Constant-Headroom technology, everything is delivered super clean with high headroom. With the PRE/POST-EQ switch, you can set whether your Direct Out signal is affected by the EQ section of the bass preamp or not. And of course, the bass preamp includes a ground lift switch in case any hum occurs.

The bass preamp is factory set for operation in 1/4-inch mode. The buffered bypass and Direct Out are active. For players who only want to use the 1/4" connection, there are two internal switches that disable the Direct Out and the 6.3mm output. Separate input and output level controls, a 3-band EQ section with a sweepable midrange, and studio-quality direct output.
