If you take the tablet-keyboard combinations of the competitors as a yardstick, the Surface Book plays in its own league in terms of workmanship, stability and quality of the components. Its magnesium casing withstood even the most energetic attempts to dent or twist it in the test...
Microsoft remains true to its line. The Surface is not a toy, but a serious work device, even if the design is a very positive departure from other work devices. With the Surface Book, Microsoft has surpassed the MacBook Air not only in terms of performance but also, in my opinion, in terms of design.
The Microsoft Surface Book passed the speed tests with flying colours and is even suitable for gaming - even if not for top titles like "GTA 5". However, the fan revs up during gaming and power-hungry applications (up to 1.1 sone under full load), which is particularly annoying in quiet environments...
The Surface Book from Microsoft is a very successful, if somewhat expensive, convertible. The display, performance, workmanship and battery power were particularly impressive. Microsoft still needs to polish a few corners and edges if the Surface Book is to feel comfortable with its own operating system...
