The integrated phono preamplifier of the MA 400 is built with particularly low-noise operational amplifiers. Handpicked components ensure a deviation from the RIAA equalization curve of less than 0.3 dB. Additionally, it features an elaborate subsonic filter with a slope of 18 dB/octave and a cutoff frequency of 16 Hz. The selected double triode tube (type ECC88) of the preamplifier is burned in for 60 hours before installation.

With a true continuous power output of 40 watts per channel and a short-term provision of over 150 watts total power, this integrated amplifier is also suitable for demanding speakers. The individual amplifier sections are powered by carefully and separately stabilized supply voltages and generously sized buffer capacitors (2 x 10,000 μF for the output stage), ensuring dynamics, low noise, and excellent channel separation.
