While a conventional signal in a copper cable can be subject to electrical interference, fiber optic cables operate using light. Therefore, they cannot be influenced by external electromagnetic interference, nor do fiber optic cables affect other lines or signals, as they emit no radiation. Additionally, due to the low attenuation of the optical cables, distances of well over 100 km can be bridged without optical amplification. The LC connector is a high-performance fiber optic connector for single-mode and multimode applications, featuring an insertion loss of only 0.1 dB and a return loss of 55 dB. The design of the LC connector is based on a single-fiber ceramic ferrule with a diameter of 1.25 mm for a fiber optic cable.
