This sensor has a high current consumption. It is very important to turn on the sensor to perform a measurement and then turn it off to save battery. It is also advised to operate with a minimum battery level of 40% to avoid voltage drops, which could lead to resets in the system due to high current peaks.
Dust, dirt, or pollen may accumulate inside the dust sensor structure, especially when the sensor is close to potential solid particle sources such as parks, construction sites, or deserts. Therefore, it is highly recommended to perform maintenance and cleaning tasks to ensure accurate measurements. The frequency of this maintenance and cleaning may vary depending on environmental conditions or the amount of obstructing dust. In clean atmospheres or areas with low particle concentrations, the maintenance period will be longer than in places with high particle concentrations.
Do not remove the external housing, as this ensures the required airflow and protects the user from the laser light. Removal of the casing may expose the user to Class 3B laser radiation, and exposure to the laser beam should be avoided. Do not use the sensor if the outer casing is damaged. Return it to the manufacturer. Removal of the external housing exposes the OPC circuitry, which contains components sensitive to static discharge damage.
Particulate matter is composed of small solid or liquid particles floating in the air. The origin of these particles can include industrial activity, exhaust fumes from diesel engines, building heating, pollen, and more. These tiny particles can enter our bodies when we breathe.
