The ThinkPad Ultrabay 9.5 mm DVD Burner IV is a single optical drive that provides users with full optical read/write functionality. The ThinkPad Ultrabay 9.5 mm DVD Burner IV can be integrated into ThinkPad systems with a native serial 9.5 mm media bay. It complies with the DVD Forum and DVD Multi-Recorder specifications.

The burner records data and videos on media types such as CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-RAM, DVD+R Dual Layer, and DVD-R Dual Layer. It offers MPEG-2 decoding software for video and DVD playback and features a 0.5 MB main memory buffer underrun protection for reliable recording of CDs and DVDs.

Included in the package are PowerDVD Create for capturing, editing, and creating your own videos, as well as a PowerDVD application for playing MPEG-2 files and DVD movies. The burner operates natively in the ThinkPad Ultrabay Enhanced media bay and stores large amounts of data and videos on DVDs and CDs. It has a SATA interface.
