The ThinkPad 1TB hard drive (5,400 RPM, 3.0 Gb/s, 9.5 mm, 4K) is our highest-capacity hard drive, offering TB capacity in a more compact design. This configuration consists of a dual 500GB platter design, providing the largest capacity in a 2.5-inch drive. The advantage of this design is the reduction of the drive height from 12.5 mm to 9.5 mm, allowing for use in smaller machine designs while maximizing capacity. The Advanced Format (4K sectors, 4,096-byte sectors) emulates 512-sector drives and offers higher capacity points along with improved error correction functionality. In addition to the advanced format, this drive features SATA 3.0 Gb/s data transfer functionality. Install the ThinkPad 1TB Hard Drive II (5,400 RPM, 9.5 mm, 4K) in the ThinkPad SATA Hard Drive Position Adapter III to increase storage and backup capacity.
