The Ixxat USB-to-CAN FD compact with galvanic isolation is a simple, robust, versatile, and cost-effective way to connect a computer to a CAN FD bus network. It is a highly reliable workhorse for CAN FD applications, featuring class-leading timestamp accuracy and a sturdy, lightweight housing. By utilizing powerful, high-quality, durable hardware and connecting via native USB 2.0 Hi-Speed (480 MBit/s) and a 9-pin D-Sub connector for CAN, the converter achieves a very high data throughput with minimal latency and power consumption. Galvanic isolation effectively protects the device from electronic damage due to voltage spikes. An exceptionally precise timestamp resolution of just 1 microsecond allows for lossless sending and receiving of standard and extended CAN messages on the CAN bus, enabling filtering and buffering of CAN messages for highly accurate CAN logging and monitoring. The proven and handy housing of the USB-to-CAN FD compact is designed for daily use and longevity. A comprehensive and stable driver and software package is available for the USB-to-CAN FD compact, which can be downloaded for free. The Ixxat driver packages for Windows (VCI) as well as Linux, VxWorks, and QNX (ECI) also allow use in existing applications without software modification. The APIs for CANopen and SAE J1939 also support the USB-to-CAN FD device family. The VCI V4 (Virtual Communication Interface) is the driver interface for Ixxat interfaces under Windows and can be downloaded for free. Based on the VCI, custom applications for communication over CAN, CAN FD, LIN, and Industrial Ethernet can be developed.
