Product details
Indoor flying with lightweight models offers fascinating possibilities thanks to new microcomponents and construction methods. The variety of materials (balsa, Styrofoam, carbon fibers, Mylar film, etc.) allows for not only classic indoor flying with rubber propulsion but also electric indoor flying with new components (coreless motors, micro RC equipment, tiny lithium polymer cells). A section is dedicated specifically to propulsion using supercapacitors. The most important feature of all lightweight models, which typically weigh between 1.5 and 10 grams, is their ability to fly slowly at a walking pace. Consequently, the risk of damage is also minimal. Another advantage of indoor flying is its feasibility—regardless of the weather—throughout the entire year. This opens up a wide door for school projects. The author has conducted numerous workshops in schools and at the German Museum, as well as supported teachers with indoor flying projects. He has also participated in numerous international and national competitions.
