Gensokyo – A remote land isolated from the outside world, where humans and youkai live side by side. One day, the shrine maiden of the Hakurei Shrine, Reimu Hakurei, discovers mysterious pillars rising in various locations throughout Gensokyo. These pillars signal the beginning of the Spell Card Festival, an event hosted by Yukari Yakumo, where participants must wager their spell cards in battle. To investigate the true intentions of Yukari Yakumo, who suddenly initiated the Spell Card Festival, Reimu Hakurei joins the fight for spell cards.
