The laboratory measurements confirm the good practical impression. For the inexpensive expansion of existing home networks to Wi-Fi 6, the Huawei AX3 definitely deserves a recommendation.
Unimaginable speed. The incredible speed of the AX3 will impress you. Thanks to 1024-QAM and a bandwidth of 160 MHz, theoretical speeds of up to 3,000 Mbps (574 Mbps at 2.4 GHz and 2,402 Mbps at 5 GHz) can be achieved. The Quad-Core Gigahome CPU makes it possible. With such speeds, the usual buffering and annoying lags are a thing of the past.

It's no real surprise that AVM's new top model wins the points. The data rates found in the test lab, which still have room for improvement, can be explained by our test setup, which is still limited to 2x2 MIMO - the 7590 AX certainly has more potential there. Considering its price, the D-Link Exo DIR-X5460 performs well - especially in the 5 GHz band...
The Huawei WiFi AX3 is a very affordable router, but it also lacks features and functionality in the test. For example, it has only a few LAN ports and no USB ports. There is also no cloud function and the security barely goes beyond the minimum standard with a firewall and VPN client. Positive aspects are the reasonable speed it achieves in the test and the very low power consumption.
The Huawei WiFi AX3 offers fast WiFi 6 for little money: at a very attractive price, buyers can bring the new WLAN standard into their own four walls. However, those who already have a top router in use, which also really speeds up with WiFi 4 and 5, may slow down older devices by switching to the Huawei - because the low-priced router makes much less speed in the older standards...
Even if advanced functions such as NAS or printer support are missing, there is little to criticise about the Huawei WiFi AX3 given its price. A good and affordable entry into Wi-Fi 6.
... With practical WLAN settings, guest WLAN, parental control (time and website filter), firewall with DMZ, DynDNS, VPN, IPTV support and IPv6, the router offers many functions that are all easy to manage and operate.
