The HP Smart Array P841 Controller is a full-height SAS RAID controller with 12 Gbit/s and PCIe3 x8, providing enterprise-level storage performance, increased external scalability, and data protection features for select HP ProLiant Gen9 rack and tower servers. It is equipped with 16 external physical connections and enhances server availability by offering advanced storage features, including online migration between any RAID levels with Flash-Backed Write Cache, global online spare, and proactive alerts. The Gen9 controller family supports HP Smart Storage batteries. With HP Smart Storage batteries, multiple Smart Array controllers are supported without the need for additional backup power supplies for each controller, simplifying the upgrade process.
