The HP Smart Array P440 controller is a compact 12Gb/sec and PCIe3 x8 SAS RAID controller that delivers enterprise-class storage performance, more internal scalability (with SAS expansion card) and data protection capabilities for HP ProLiant Gen9 rack and tower servers. It is equipped with eight internal physical connections and provides increased server availability by providing advanced storage capabilities, including online RAID-level migration between any RAID levels with Flash-Backed Write Cache (FBWC), global online spare and preventive alerts.
The Gen9 controller family supports HP Smart Storage batteries.
HP Smart Storage batteries support multiple Smart Array controllers without the need for additional backup power supplies for each controller, simplifying the upgrade process.
