Homee is a wireless system that allows you to control your wireless communicating devices across different manufacturers via smartphone. You don't need to make any changes to your apartment; therefore, Homee is also suitable for renters. All data is stored in the central unit, the Homee Brain Cube, and not on the internet. This ensures your data is secure and always accessible.
With ZigBee wireless technology, you can control devices from many major manufacturers. If you already have the white Brain Cube, the orange ZigBee Cube additionally allows you to control all devices that use the ZigBee protocol. Many large manufacturers utilize ZigBee technology.
For example, you can control the lights from the Philips Hue family, Osram Lightify bulbs, or Ikea Tradfri lights with the ZigBee module. Devices from Bitron Home or Schwaiger Home4you also communicate using the ZigBee protocol and can be controlled with Homee thanks to the ZigBee Cube. Like Wi-Fi, ZigBee operates on the 2.4 GHz band; however, ZigBee supports what's known as mesh networking. In this setup, each powered component acts as a range extender. If Homee cannot directly reach the lamp in the hallway because it is too far away, it instructs the living room lamp in between to tell the hallway light what to do.
